The
Moonlight Girls are:
Isabelle Gagné,
Céline Bélair and
Karine Pion.
The
Moonlight Girls, the sparkling vocal Swing trio the Medias like to call
"The Triplets of Montreal" launched their new album, entitled
"Moonlight Café" on June 17th 2008. This album, the group's second opus, includes a dozen new Swing arrangements of French and Quebecois titles (among which one completely original song written by
The Moonlight Girls) and an Italian-Swing surprise !
The
"Moonlight Café" tour (which premiered last April 3rd to the 27th at the
Casino de Montreal ) will be making a stop, on July 3rd, on the great GM outdoor stage of
Montreal' International Jazz Festival. This performance will mark the group's third invitation to perform to the prestigious event since 2004. The
"Moonlight Café" tour will introduce the songs from the new album live and also include the great classics the Swing music fans crave such as
In The Mood,
Chattanooga Choo Choo and many others.
Noted as outstanding for their performances at the 2004 and 2005 editions of
Montreal's International Jazz Festival, The
Moonlight Girls Vocal Swing Trio has also performed live in the most important venues and festivals throughout Quebec since their beginnings in 1997. Notably, at Montreal's National Monument theatre and at the Fashion and Design Festival 2006, in the Maisons de la culture network, at Quebec's Edwin-Belanger Bandstand (Battlefield Park), at Old-Aylmer's Cultural Center, at Rimouski's Festijazz, at Trois-Rivières's International Vocal Art Festival, at Sherbrooke's Centennial Theatre and many others. The
Moonlight Girls have also performed at the
Roseq and
Reseau-Scene 2006 music buyers showcases.
Since the launch, in June 2004, of their self-titled debut album (also launched in
South Korea by
EMI in 2007), the group is frequently heard on national radio (CBC, Espaces musique, Rhythm FM, Couleur Jazz, etc.) and often appears on television (CBC Television, Television Quatre-Saisons and Tele-Quebec). This same year they added their vocal touch on six of the eleven tracks of singer and Quebec star actor
Frederick DeGrandpré's album
Un martini pour Noël (
Winner of the
"Felix" trophy for "
Album of the year-Jazz" at the ADISQ Gala 2005, Quebec's top musical industry award).
Unanimously, for their album and performances, The
Moonlight Girls (still the
"best kept secret in showbiz" according to the
Quebec info musique website) are met with great enthusiasm by the fans and the Medias who highlight the group's positive energy, their authenticity, their stunning vocal virtuosity and the richness of their sound. The
Moonlight Girls are not only emerging as talented vocalists, arrangers and song-writers, but are also being more and more noticed for their original approach of the French and American Swing repertoire.
